About

The BBC Audio Drama Awards are an annual awards ceremony celebrating outstanding achievement in audio drama, recognising excellence in the production, performance, writing, and sound design of scripted audio storytelling across radio, broadcast, and online platforms. Established by BBC Radio in 2012, the awards honour a wide range of creative professionals including actors, writers, producers, directors, and sound designers whose work contributes to the innovation, imagination, and artistic impact of audio drama as a medium.

The ceremony also incorporates the Imison Award (for best audio drama script by a writer new to the medium) and the Tinniswood Award (for best original audio drama script of the year), presented in partnership with the Society of Authors and the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain. Held annually in the BBC Radio Theatre at Broadcasting House in London, the awards showcase excellence from UK and international productions and reflect the vibrant and evolving landscape of audio storytelling.
