The Dutch Podcast Awards are an annual celebration created to recognise and elevate the vibrant podcasting and audio community in the Netherlands. Founded in 2018, the awards have grown to become the premier independent recognition for podcast creators in the Dutch media landscape, spotlighting excellence, creativity, innovation, and storytelling across Dutch‑language podcasts. The event aims to celebrate work that demonstrates outstanding quality, originality, production values, and cultural relevance within the rapidly expanding world of Dutch podcasting, offering a professional platform for both established and emerging creators to be recognised.
Organised by BNR Nieuwsradio, the Dutch Podcast Awards feature a dual evaluation process that includes both jury‑selected awards and a public choice award, ensuring a balanced and fair assessment of submissions. An independent panel of experienced industry professionals drawn from media companies, podcast producers, and audio experts evaluates entries based on criteria tailored to each category. This independent judging panel ensures transparency and integrity in the selection of nominees and winners.
The awards encompass multiple categories that recognise different podcast formats and genres including journalism, narrative storytelling, interviews, sound design, innovation, and more as well as the overall Best Podcast of the Netherlands. In addition to jury prizes, listeners across the Netherlands can participate in selecting the Publieksprijs (Audience Award), giving voice to the passion and engagement of the podcast audience. Through this breadth, the Dutch Podcast Awards aim to highlight exceptional creative achievement and contribute to the growth and cultural recognition of the Dutch podcasting sector.
