About

The Online Journalism Awards are an annual awards program celebrating outstanding achievement in digital journalism, recognising excellence in reporting, writing, multimedia storytelling, and innovation across online news platforms worldwide. Established by the Online News Association in 2000, the awards honour a wide range of journalists, news organizations, and digital media professionals including reporters, editors, producers, designers, and data journalists whose work advances the standards, creativity, and impact of journalism in the digital age.

The awards also incorporate special honors, such as the ONA Community Award (for contributions to inclusive online journalism communities), the James Foley Award for Conflict Reporting, the Impact Award (for influential work in digital journalism), and the Rich Jaroslovsky Founder Award (for long-term contributions to the field). Presented annually during the ONA Conference, the awards showcase exemplary work from newsrooms and independent journalists worldwide and highlight the evolving landscape and innovation of online journalism.
