About

The Peabody Awards are an annual awards program celebrating outstanding achievement in storytelling across television, radio, podcasts, streaming and digital media, recognizing excellence in content that reflects the pressing social issues and the diverse voices of our time. Established in 1940 and first awarded in 1941, the Peabody Awards honor distinguished and impactful work chosen each year by a diverse Board of Jurors through unanimous vote, based on the criterion of Excellence On Its Own Terms, rather than popularity or commercial success.

The awards spotlight powerful narratives in categories including entertainment, documentary, news, podcast/radio, arts, children’s and youth, public service, and immersive and interactive media, showcasing stories that matter for their artistic quality, societal relevance, and contribution to media and culture. Historically rooted in the recognition of excellence in radio broadcasting, the Peabody Awards have grown into one of the most respected media honors globally, administered by the Henry W.
