Public Media Journalists Association Awards

The Public Media Journalists Association Awards are an annual awards program celebrating outstanding achievement in public media journalism, recognising excellence in reporting, editing, digital projects, and leadership across public radio and other public media platforms. Established by the Public Media Journalists Association (originally Public Radio News Directors Inc.) in 1985, the awards honour a wide range of journalistic professionals including reporters, editors, producers, and early-career journalists whose work contributes to the innovation, integrity, and impact of public service journalism.

The awards program includes the Annual Awards competition, the Leo C. Lee Award (for extraordinary contributions to public media journalism), the Editor of the Year Award (recognising leadership and vision in public media newsrooms), and the Public Media New Voices Award (celebrating exceptional early-career journalists).

Held annually, these awards showcase excellence from public media organizations across the United States and reflect the vital role of journalism in informing, engaging, and empowering communities.
